Nursing Australia secures preferred supplier agreement with Ramsay Healthcare NSW

SKILLED's Nursing Australia division has won one of Australia's largest nursing preferred supplier agreements, and will become the exclusive supplier of agency nurses to Ramsay Healthcare's major private hospitals in the Sydney region and NSW Hunter Valley. Nursing Australia, part of SKILLED's Origin Healthcare business, was already a lead supplier to Ramsay Healthcare hospitals in WA and Queensland, and the NSW deal significantly extends the relationship. Ramsay previously used more than 40 nursing agencies in NSW, and under the new agreement, Nursing Australia will be the exclusive supplier. In cases where it can't supply, Ramsay will access the market directly or use secondary suppliers. Origin Healthcare CEO John Watkinson told Shortlist that Origin was "delighted" to win the three-year contract, which followed an extensive competitive tender process by Ramsay. The arrangement covers the big Ramsay hospitals in Sydney at Northshore, Westmea...

Wages

Wages and conditions for nurses in Australia are determined by various Awards and Agreements. Because of the changing nature of such awards / wages, it’s difficult to keep this information up-to-the-minute accurate! Depending on whether you are a nurse working in the public health sector or a private hospital, you would normally be covered by an industrial agreement which provides wage and working conditions. While there is some degree of consistency, wages and conditions can vary depending on the relevant State/Territory and the specific area of nursing. To give you an indication of hourly rates etc, see Nursing Wages in Queensland for current public sector Registered Nurses. You can check out the various ANF branch websites and find out information which pertains to each particular state/territory at: VIC NSW ACT WA TAS QLD SA NT

Australian Colleges

The Australian college system is based on vocational education programs that can be used for employment or as the basis for further academic study. A very small number of colleges in Australia can award degrees. These include tertiary institutions that use the name 'College' such as some medical schools and art schools. Along with this the name 'College' is also used by some secondary schools (Years 7 to Year 12 - for students from about 12 years old up until about 18 years old). Otherwise colleges refers to post-secondary institutions that offer non-degree based qualifications. The programs offered by these colleges can be used as employment-based training and qualifications or to enter one of the universities and in that way achieve a degree-level qualification. Most of the publicly funded colleges come under the control of the various state governments which administer the TAFE sector of higher education.
