Sponsorship and Employment
Swingshift Nurses has been endorsed by the Australian Government as a Pre-qualified Business Sponsor to allow it to sponsor overseas nurses* and offer them employment contracts from six months to four years.
To help qualify for Business Sponsorship nomination with the Australian Nursing Agency you must obtain Registration as a division 1 Nurse with the Nurses Board of Victoria.
Immigration Requirements
Non-residents who want to work while in Australia are required to have a visa which gives work rights. Please contact the Department of Immigration for detailed information.
12 month Working Holiday visas are available to 18 - 35 year olds (without dependant children) passport holders from: United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Canada, Hong Kong (SAR of People's Republic of China), Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, South Korea, Malta, Germany and Japan.
Longer-term visas are available to nurses who are sponsored by Swingshift Nurses. Spouses and dependant children may be included in this visa.

NURSING BOARD OF VICTORIA

The Nurses Board of Victoria provides information and mechanisms for nurses to make enquiries and place registration applications.
(When you take photocopies of original documents to be certified as true copies of the original, make sure the authorised person states on the copy at least that they/"I have sighted the original and that this copy is a true copy of the original").

Tax Information
Swingshift Nurses can supply you with a Tax file number application form.
Taxes will be deducted from your weekly wage at the approved scale. Refer to the Australian Taxation Office for up to date information:

Superannuation
After 1 July 2005 you can choose the superannuation fund or retirement savings account to which Swingshift Nurses will make future superannuation guarantee contributions. All members will receive the Choice of superannuation fund Standard choice form – information for employees (Australian Tax Office). Under the choice, an employee has the ability to have their superannuation guarantee contribution (SGC) paid into the complying super fund of their choice.
Health Insurance
The Australian Government health insurance 'Medicare' is only available to some passport holders from the countries of: United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, New Zealand, Netherlands, Malta, Italy, Sweden and Finland.
Private Medical insurance is available from insurers including: Medibank Private:

Before leaving for overseas:
Take the original or certified copies of at least:
All documents required for registration and employment including:
Satisfactory evidence of identity.
Marriage certificate or documents relating to change of name.
Documents related to employment as a registered nurse over past five years.
Certificate, diploma or degree issued by the facility where you undertook your nursing course(s).
Transcript/records of your nursing registration course (on letterhead).
Your initial registration certificate or, verification sent directly from the nurse regulatory authority where your course was undertaken to the Nurses Board Victoria.
Arrange for verification of your current or most recent nurse registration to be sent directly from the nurse regulatory authority to the Nurses Board Victoria.
Three written professional references on letterhead plus phone and fax numbers to enable your referees to be contacted.
Our meet and greet team will meet you at the airport and can assist you with; finding convenient short-term accommodation, orientating you to Melbourne, setting up your bank account, organizing health and other insurance, accompany you to the Nurses Board and networking with other nurses. Overseas nurses include nurse visitors already in Australia.
Nurses who may be offered sponsorship and employment contracts are those eligible to be registered in Division 1 of the Nurses Board of Victoria's register.
